TMNT Real Van!

Here are those among you who scoff at excitement, adventure and joy.
Well, for the rest of us, the new TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE movie is one of the most anticipated films of the season. And to celebrate its release, the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar will have the ACTUAL TMNT CUSTOM VAN:
…parked out in front of the theater for the opening weekend.
Seriously.
Come check it out, and see what other surprises we have lined up, including a special menu, a surprise guest appearance and more.
The van will be here Friday, March 23 from 5 - 10pm and Saturday, March 24 from Noon - 7pm.

Nike SB Dunk vs Nike Dunk - TMNT Custom Sneakers

Take a long look at these TMNT custom sneakers, by Thrist Customs. When I ran around them on the ISS forums I couldn’t even image how much time and effort that was put into creating these wonder dunks. The SB Dunk, my personal favorite of the two, represents Donatello, while the other Dunk represents Leonardo. The Donatello SB features a cool box toe, oozing with slim, surrounded by what appears to be a tricked out elephant-print pattern. Two key features on this dunk are the menacing eyes of Donatello, which are well placed on the purple based swoosh, and the cool tassels on the back of the shoes which represents the trademark eye mask that the Ninja Turtles always wore. The Leonardo Dunk features a toe-box that represents the turtle’s shell and a cloth like blue swoosh, his personal color, and they even designed the back of the sneaker to resemble a sewer manhole. Just like the SB Dunk, the shoe has tassels in the back representing a eye mask. These some of the details, but there’s too many to name….so I’ll just leave you to enjoy these

Stone Warrior,

Easily recognized by his large nose.

He is a villain character in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (TMNT) universe.

Stone Warriors, sometimes also referred to as Rock Soldiers, are a race of sentient humanoids, from Dimension X, whose bodies, as their name implies, are composed of stone. They are incredibly strong and resistant to physical injury, but not terribly bright. It is unclear if there are any females in their species, as all subjects observed to date appear to be masculine. The Stone Warriors' entire culture is geared towards war and conflict with a definite tendency towards aggression and hostility in regards to other species. Their numbers are organized into a strict hierarchy, with power/prestige directly linked to military rank. The current commander of the Stone Warrior legions is General Traag. Lieutenant Granitor is his immediate second-in-command, and his successor, should Traag fall in battle or meet with some other fatal mishap. At present, the Stone Warriors serve the exiled alien warlord, Krang. It is supposed that, at some time in the past, the Stone Warriors were defeated and subjugated by Krang.

Shogun Showdown Custom Action Figure

Scratch Custom Action Figure
A mutant cat burglar that appears as a boss character in the 1993 Gameboy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue video game (he's also one of the rarest original Playmates TMNT toys). This criminal feline will have to be defeated twice during the course of this adventure, once, near the beginning, to win the first of five jail cell keys, and then again, near the end of the game, in a "boss rush" prior to reaching Cyber Shredder. In between hopping about and/or charging across the screen, Scratch will attack the Turtles with swipes from his deadly claws and crushing blows from his ball-and-chain.

Krang Custom Action Figure
I used my new dremel tool to open up this figure's chest. Then I sanded off his upper boots and the veins on his arms. The shoulder armor is from a rhino figure. The Krang, the walker, and just about everything else I sculpted. The Krang is removable and can be placed in the chair I made for him. I threw in one picture of the Andriod body mid-way through production just so you can see how much of him I sculpted. I wanted this figure to have the bulky look he had in the old tmnt cartoon. All comments are appreciated feel free to tell me how I could do better.

Roadkill Rodney Custom Action Figure
"DO NOT RESIST US!"

Unicycle-like robots, created by The Shredder/Krang, that first appeared in the original 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) cartoon series, specifically the episode Enter The Shredder. In said chapter, Roadkill Rodneys were used to capture a rhinoceros and warthog from a local zoo (these would subsequently be used to create the mutants Bebop and Rocksteady), fought the TMNT inside the Technodrome (failing miserably), and later rescued Bebop and Rocksteady (after the TMNT imprisoned the bumbling duo in a zoo cage) at the end of the show. They never appeared in the cartoon again. However, later, they did pop up in the Archie TMNT comic books and as enemy characters in several of Konami's TMNT video games.

Despite their relatively small size, Roadkill Rodneys are fully loaded with numerous hidden gadgets and weaponry. A diamond-tipped drill can be extended from the top of their heads--this is primarily used to tunnel through rock, allowing the robots to travel underground. Housed in the shoulders of these machines are long, retractable, prehensile cables. Roadkill Rodneys most often utilize these appendages to capture/restrain targets, but they can also be employed to manipulate objects in their immediate environment (door handles, buttons, etc). More alarmingly, they can channel direct current electricity through these tentacles, stunning, inflicting pain, or, in the most extreme circumstances, killing their captives. The panel on a Roadkill Rodney's lower body can drop down to reveal a laser blaster mounted on an articulated armature. This gun fires energy beams powerful enough to melt steel.

With this one I just took the TMNT April O'neil and modified her with epoxy and masking tape ( mainly cause I was too lazy to dremel out the details). I'm pretty satisfied with this custom.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough! I am, and always have been, first and foremost a fan of the original TMNT comic books of the mid-late 80’s. The dynamic and gritty black and white of those comics blew my mind when I was a kid and still does to this day. Kevin Eastman’s Artobiography takes the art of all of those early comics and displays it in a beautiful 300 page hardcover book. Kevin goes from his creation of the Turtles with Peter Laird to rough concept sketched to page by page breakdowns of most of his artistic contributions to the TMNT books. I was lucky enough to meet Kevin briefly at NYCC this past year and he was cool enough to sign my copy and do a cool little sketch of Raph on the inside cover. For Gallery 1988's 5th Anniversary Idiot Box (flier)show celebrating the guilty pleasures of the boob tube, Le Merde did the voodoo that he does so well... on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figure dripping with thick blood. Great colors on this piece. Go on... you can admit that you spent plenty of after school hours watching the four turtles whup shredder's behind. Kevin Eastman to Release a New TMNT Collection This Year

Anyway, let me tell you a few things that are going on, too much to fit in for this update, so I’ll share my favorites. As many of you know, and for those that don’t, this year is the 25th anniversary of the TMNT’s!!! Cool Beans! There are a couple of 25th Anniversary things planned this year by Mirage Studios—for the full details/plans/events go to the official TMNT site (www.ninjaturtles.com) but from my end, I’m doing a little 25th” event I can’t wait to share with you—a new collection of TMNT stories, my favorites, in an all new remastered 180 page book that will be out in time for San Diego!

About half of the stories feature my two favorite TMNT characters, Casey Jones and Raphael, the rest reprint some of my favorite all time TMNT tales! Here’s a quick breakdown;

* The Jan Strnad Richard Corben “Turtles Take Time” in its original full color version!
* The Mark Bode epic “Shell of the Dragon” in its original glorious black and white!
* The FIRST appearance of Casey Jones in the Raphael one shot entitled, “Me, Myself, and I” which has been colored for the first time by the amazing Justin Norman!
* The classic Eastman short “Fun With Guns” short story will be colored by the world renowned Blond!
* And TMNT #14 by Eastman and Talbot will be reprinted in its original “Duo Shade/Sepia Toned” version!
* Other stories will include shorts, “49th Street Stompers” “Complete Carnage and Radical” and “You Had to Be there!” plus intros, pin-ups and a few other surprises.

Personally, it is great to add this collection of works along side the “Artobiography” and the “Bodycount” collection, which was my final TMNT story I did with Simon Bisley. Anyway, check it out—and I’ll get some of the full short stories up here on the site for you to download for free.

I’m going to be doing a signing of it at the Golden Apple Comic store here in LA, and will get you more details such as times, address, and related specifics in the next month or so.
